Many teams choose a source by wattage alone, then get asked in review "what is your spot uniformity?" For large-area samples (a whole photoelectrode, a multi-channel array), if center-to-edge irradiance differs by more than 20%, the measured yield is only an averaged illusion—swap the sample or shift its position and the result changes. A high-uniformity light source directly determines data representativeness and reproducibility.
Perfectlight's PLS PGL-O1000 LED large-area irradiation light source is built precisely for this kind of uniform large-area illumination.
Uniformity rests on three points: the luminaire's own emitting-surface design, the diffusion/homogenization of a homogenizer (e.g., the PLS-LA320A homogenizer), and the beam shaping of a light guide / lamp panel (e.g., the SLight lamp panel). Together they push local variation down so that the "measured irradiance at the sample position" truly represents the whole surface.
Use a light power meter / irradiance meter to measure irradiance at multiple points within the spot (center, corners, edges) and compute non-uniformity. Recording a grid of measurement points helps both internal QC and the methods section of your paper.

On large-area samples, uneven irradiance averages into an illusion; move the sample or shift its position and the result jumps—data is not reproducible.
Combine luminaire emitting-surface design + homogenizer diffusion + light-guide/lamp-panel shaping, then measure multiple points with a power meter to report non-uniformity.
Multi-channel material screening, PV module characterization, and scale-up photocatalysis—any scenario demanding uniform coverage of a whole surface.
