Jointly organized by the Chemical Societies of five provinces in North China, with the Shanxi Chemical Society and Shanxi University as the hosts, the "16th North China Regional Chemical Academic Symposium" was successfully held in Taiyuan, Shanxi Province from July 15 to July 19, 2025. The conference, themed "Mountains and rivers inside and outside, empowered by chemistry," reviewed the remarkable achievements in chemical research, teaching reform, and related industries in the five provinces of North China, while also looking forward to the future development trends of the chemical discipline. It aimed to promote academic exchanges in North China and across the country, driving the chemical academic research in North China towards higher goals.
The conference focused on seven themes: advanced functional materials and electrochemical energy storage, chemical biology and health medicine, green chemical synthesis and catalysis, coal chemistry and clean efficient utilization of coal-based resources, artificial intelligence and theoretical chemistry research, nanotechnology and analytical chemistry, and chemical education reform and experimental technology innovation. It attracted numerous scholars from universities and research institutions across Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Shanxi, and Inner Mongolia to participate and exchange ideas.
This conference utilized various formats, including keynote speeches, thematic presentations, oral reports, and poster exhibitions, to widely and deeply exchange the latest research achievements in chemistry and related fields from the five provinces of North China. During the conference, academicians and renowned scholars in the field of chemistry and related areas actively participated, attracting many scholars from the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei-Shanxi-Inner Mongolia region to engage in discussions.
