The 6th China (International) Energy Materials Chemistry Symposium was successfully held in Jinan, Shandong.

In order to showcase the latest research achievements and advancements in the field of energy materials chemistry in China, promote academic exchange and research collaboration among experts and scholars, and facilitate industrial application and development, the 6th China (International) Energy Materials Chemistry Symposium was successfully held in Jinan, Shandong from August 10 to 12, 2023. The event was organized by Shandong University and hosted by the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Shandong University.

This symposium, themed around "Green Energy & Sustainable Development Materials Chemistry," covered various aspects, including energy storage, energy catalysis, nano- and cluster-based energy materials, solar conversion and hydrogen utilization, energy electrochemical characterization and simulation, solvent thermosetting functional materials, and energy applications. It aimed to engage in extensive academic exchange and discussions on the current hot topics and frontier research in energy materials chemistry.

Green Energy & Sustainable Development Materials Chemistry

During the opening ceremony, the welcome address was delivered by Shandong University President and Chinese Academy of Engineering Academician Li Shucai. The opening speech was given by Academician Li Yadong, Co-Chair of the symposium and President of Anhui Normal University, China, and Professor at Tsinghua University.

In the keynote session, the President of the University of Science and Technology of China and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Bao Xinhe, gave a presentation on "Opportunities and Challenges in Energy Materials Chemistry under the Background of 'Dual Carbon,'" discussing the current opportunities and challenges in energy chemistry. Professor Sun Shigang, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Professor at Xiamen University, presented a report on "Structural Design and Performance Regulation of Electrochemical Energy Materials," providing a systematic and forward-looking discussion on the relationship between the structure and performance of electrochemical energy storage materials.


Academician Li Yadong delivered a report titled "Green Hydrogen, Chlor-Alkali Industry, and New Strategies for Recycling Waste Plastics," exploring the application of energy chemistry in the field of renewable resources. Researcher Han Buxing, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Researcher at the Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, shared the contribution of green energy to sustainable development in his report on "Green Chemistry and Carbon Neutrality."


Professor Li Changming, a professor at Suzhou University of Science and Technology, Academician of the National Academy of Medicine and Bioengineering, and Academician of the European Academy of Sciences, gave a presentation on "Innovation and Development of Energy Technology in the Context of Dual Carbon," discussing major innovations and developments in the field of energy technology.
